Several summers we worked scooping ice cream at all of the events around the cities. The Minnesota State Fair, Taste of Minnesota, Aquatennial Block party and fireworks to name a few. One Aquatennial fireworks show the night started out in the high 70’s. As the night progressed it became warmer and then hot as more people showed up. We sold so much ice cream and water that night. In high school we would meet at Bridgeman’s after a school event and share a Lala Palooza. We had some great memories. Played games, cards, told jokes and stories and even a scavenger hunt.
In the early 1970’s I worked with my cousin at the Danish Bakery in West Duluth. Every Thursday Randy and I would stop at Bridgeman’s on the way to YFC choir practice. I always got the LaLa Palooza. Usually went to the ones in West Duluth, West End, and the last few times the one in Hermantown. The photos here were taken at the Bridgeman’s in Hermantown with my step daughter. I told her about how I had one every week so this was kind of a contest to see if she could do it. Things were kind of over her head near the bottom, but she managed to come out smiling. My cousin Randy has passed on, but those memories I have of him and the things we shared will be with me always. Thanks for being there for us.
